i love questions like this , so first off thank you for asking ! first and foremost , elena’s happiness is the thing i root for most . that and well , good characterization / writing . we don’t talk about seasons 5-8 on this blog.
as far as the show goes , i’ve always labelled myself pure stefan / elena trash . i am a sucker for soulmates and the show made it quite clear that these two were meant to be . there is no one else on the show that elena , in my mind , fits better with . the love they share is so pure , it’s magnetic and electric and yet comforting . with stefan , elena never had to be different . he accepted her for who she was , just as she did the same for him . one particular moment stands out above the rest for me when talking about stelena and that’s season three , episode eleven . stefan’s humanity is wavering , he’s desperate to find purpose , believing that killing klaus is the only answer . elena , however , can’t believe that it’s come to this . facing her fear on the same bridge that he’d saved her from a year prior . it’s not a scene for romance , it’s a scene about two people who are quite literally facing life and death. who have done everything in their power to keep those they love safe and who are slowly running out of options. stefan is desperate , where elena is hopeful . “how could you ? my parents died going over this bridge , i almost died . you knew that , you’re the one who saved me” their relationship has ups and downs , but at the end of the day, the love they shared was enough to break compulsion from an original , it was enough to bring stefan back from his ripper state .
it’s the small things that really make their love outstanding . a phone call exchanged at the beginning of season three with radio silence from stefan’s end and yet words of compassion from elena’s while a drop in the ocean is playing . fast forward to elena finding stefan’s old apartment in chicago and running into ripper!stefan only to have him protect her once more . at the end of the day , elena gilbert and stefan salvatore mean the world to me. their love wasn’t a fairytale and it was far from perfect but they didn’t need a sire bond or fan service . they were the heart of the show & that much was evident time and time again . “ you should be with the person that makes you glad that you’re alive “
now as far as roleplaying goes that’s a whole other story . i’ve written some really great crossovers in my time with elena . however , i think it’s safe to say that my heart can never seem to shy away from DEAN WINCHESTER / ELENA GILBERT . i’ve always had a soft spot for their dynamic and youtube doesn’t ever make it any easier . and , not to put elena in this situation again but , y’all everyone sleeps on SAM WINCHESTER / ELENA GILBERT ; they’re a ship that’s filled with a lot of angst and pain no matter which way you look at it ( spoiler alert , someone always dies ) i do ship ELENA GILBERT / CHEMISTRY most of all . whether it be with canons or oc’s . like i said , there’s been so many ships over the years . but i’m basically game for any and all things . ELENA GILBERT / ALLISON ARGENT has a big soft spot in my heart , my warrior girls .
